Nadal may play in exhibition on grass to prepare for Wimbledon

MADRID, Spain (AP) — Top-ranked Rafael Nadal may play at a grass-court exhibition tournament in England on Friday to prepare for Wimbledon.

Nadal won the title at Wimbledon last year, but he lost in the fourth round of this year's French Open. He then pulled out of the Queen's Club tournament to rest his injured knees.

"I have kindly been invited to play the traditional exhibition at the Hurlingham Club," Nadal said in a statement on his website. "I have played at that club for several years now. It would be a good test for me to play there on Friday to see how the knee is doing and it would provide the perfect setting to get some practice before Wimbledon.

"If I feel the recuperation is going well, I will be more than happy to be there again. I hope that's the case."

Nadal has played at the event twice before, in 2006 and '07.
